Do you remove coyotes in residential neighborhoods?

No. Our coyote service is only for farms and large tracts of land. Coyotes regularly pass through subdivisions and in-town neighborhoods, and on residential lots trapping usually is not practical or effective. If you are seeing coyotes in your neighborhood, keep pets indoors at night, bring in pet food and secure trash cans, and contact TWRA for guidance on a coyote that seems aggressive or sick.

Is it legal to trap or shoot coyotes in Tennessee?

In Tennessee, coyotes are classified as a nuisance animal with no closed season, meaning they can be taken year-round. However, trapping still requires a TWRA trapping license, and there are rules around trap types and placement. Discharging a firearm within city limits or in certain residential areas is also restricted by local ordinance. We handle all of this correctly so you do not have to worry about the legal side of things.

Will removing one coyote solve the problem?

It depends. If a single bold animal is causing the problem, removing it can resolve things quickly. But coyotes are often traveling in pairs or loose family groups, and removing one without addressing the attractants on your property can simply invite the next one to move in. My neighbor feeds wildlife. Will that make coyote removal pointless?
